Enterprise’s Award for the Environment 2007: Irigom srl “best process/technology for the sustainable development”

“Waste as resource: the recovery of the end-of life tyres”: with this project, Irigom srl has achieved a special distinction in the Enterprise’s Award for the Environment 2007, which is the Italian selection of the European Business Award for the Environment. It is promoted by the Department for Environment, by the Department for economical development, by Unioncamere (Chamber of Commerce association), by the Chamber of Commerce of Rome and Milan. Its intent is to award private and public enterprises which are particularly engaged regards to sustainable development, environmentally awareness and social responsibility.

The award ceremony was on 19th December 2007 in Rome and Italian enterprises were honoured according to four categories: best managing, best product, best process/technology, best international cooperation.

The jury was composed by environmentally experts and by institutional members and it has selected the winners among 137 candidates, which were private and public big and small enterprises coming from all Italian regions.

Irigom Srs stands out the other candidate enterprises in the category “best process and technology for the sustainable development” illustrating the activity which has been doing for 5 years: an integrated  equipment, which is able to recover material from end-of-life tyres and it produces among several products also a coloured granulate that can be used for sport floorings. The industrial process has been developed cooperating with universities.

Out of 137 participant enterprises, only 13 ones have taken part to the award ceremony and among them 3 from the south of Italy. Among these ones, Irigom srl from Massafra is from Apulia.

Irigom srl is proud of this achievement because it has shown that it can be innovative and competitive also among the national big enterprises participant to the award ceremony, although its aims are the sustainable development and the high-quality of the product.
